Both bile acid and calizarenes are molecules with unique diversification and molecular recognition sites. They have been used to build macrocycles for investigation of guest-host interactions. This work describes the first combination of the two structures into a hybrid macrocycle and the investigation of its ion-binding properties. The complex was constructed via click chemistry of a bis-propargyl calixarene and bis-azo functionalized chenodeoxycholate. Metal hyperchloride salts were added in acetonitrile, demonstrating a 1:1 complex formation with the order of binding constants Hg>Cd>Zn>Pb>Li>Mn>Cu. |
