The United States of America does not regulate heraldry. Any individual choosing to adopt heraldry does so as assumed arms. These assumed arms do not indicate nobility, but are simply used as a logo or means of identification.

Excellence through Practice Colors:
Azure (Blue) - Blue is the color of water. It represents depth, loyalty, and intelligence. Argent (White) - White represents faith and purity Or (gold) - Gold is the color of generosity. Meaning: The field of blue is for wisdom and water. The rapiers stand for sport and historical fencing. The chief is the upper 1/3 of the shield denoting authority and the raguly line means difficulties overcome. The retort is a historical chemistry symbol. The fencing mask instead of a helm is a break in tradition, but emphasizes civilian rather than military swordsmanship. Instead of traditional mantling, a doctoral hood is used. The reef knot is another name for a square knot. It represents the Eagle Scout award, marriage, and the name Knudtson. The cross fleury is a symbol for Catholicism and the City of St. Louis, colored blue for the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers. |
