Rational of Scientific Writing
1. A scientific work is constructed to present information and defend it through a rational argument
a. What has been done
i. A description of the work presented
b. How it was done
i. A description of the methods used to accomplish the work done
c. Why it is important
i. An explanation of how the work is relevant to the field it relates to, and people in general
2. A scientific work is a clear and descriptive journey through the process of research
a. Requires a clear, singular topic stated early within the introduction of the work
i. Clear and unambiguous statement of purpose is important for the reader to understand the purpose of the work
ii. It cannot be assumed the reader understands the importance of the work, this must be presented
iii. All information, discussions, reasoning, and results must relate back to the central topic
b. Requires a description of the field in which the work relates to
i. Familiarizes the reader with the relevant information
ii. Identifies areas in which knowledge is lacking
iii. Identifies where the work relates to this field, especially where knowledge is lacking
c. Discussion of methods and results relate back to the overall purpose
